Ginny

From the Prologue

Aunt Ginny was my favorite relative when I was a child.  That might seem odd, since I did not know her well.  She visited us once a year, at Christmas.  She would arrive in the early afternoon, stay a few hours, and leave before dinner.

It was clear that Ginny was not a welcome guest.  Accepting her into our home, however briefly, was some sort of obligation the adults in the family understood.  There was always a sense of relief among them upon her departure.  Ginny’s visits were never discussed in my presence.  Neither was her exact relationship to the family…

Facts about Ginny

Years later, when I had grown up, the topic of Ginny and her career in prostitution was no longer taboo.  I learned that she was the illegitimate daughter of one of my uncles.  With him tucked away under earth, Ginny could be brought to light for family discussions.

By all accounts, she had apparently prospered for a time, maintained minimal contact, and then fallen off the family radar.  No one in the family seemed to know – or care – what had become of her.  I remain curious about that.  In my fantasy life, Ginny reads my novel and really does contact me to renew acquaintances.

The next two pages of this site deal with Mikki and Minnie, the working girls who provided much of the direct source material for THE GAME.
